Intimate Partner Violence Support in Kitchener & Waterloo Region

Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Therapy in a Safe and Respectful Space

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) can deeply impact your emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. It may involve patterns of control, fear, manipulation, emotional harm, or physical violence within a relationship.

If you are navigating the effects of an abusive or harmful relationship, past or present, you deserve safety, dignity, and support.

At Kitchener Therapy Collaborative, we provide trauma-informed therapy for individuals impacted by intimate partner violence. Our approach is grounded in compassion, safety, and collaboration. You will be met with respect, always.

What Is Intimate Partner Violence?

Intimate Partner Violence can take many forms. It may include:

  • emotional or psychological abuse

  • controlling behaviours

  • isolation from friends or family

  • financial control

  • verbal intimidation

  • physical or sexual harm

  • patterns of coercion or fear

Abuse is not always visible. It can be subtle, confusing, and difficult to name. If something in your relationship feels unsafe or destabilizing, your feelings are valid.

The Impact of IPV

Experiencing intimate partner violence can affect:

  • self-esteem and confidence

  • ability to trust others

  • emotional regulation

  • sense of safety

  • decision-making

  • mental health and wellbeing

You may notice anxiety, depression, numbness, hypervigilance, shame, or self-doubt. These are common trauma responses, not personal failures.

Our Approach to Therapy

Our work is trauma-informed and survivor-centered. This means:

  • You control the pace of therapy.

  • You are never pressured to share details before you are ready.

  • Your safety and emotional wellbeing come first.

  • Therapy is co-created with you, not imposed on you.

We focus on helping you:

  • rebuild a sense of safety

  • understand trauma responses

  • strengthen emotional regulation

  • reconnect with your inner strengths

  • restore confidence and agency

As registered social workers, we do not diagnose. We work collaboratively to assess impacts and create a recovery plan aligned with your needs and goals.

You Deserve Safety and Support

No one deserves to feel unsafe in their relationship.
If you are ready to explore healing in a space that honors your experiences and your boundaries, we are here.
